About San Diego Addiction Therapist Cory Anderson
Hi, I’m Cory Anderson, a licensed and San Diego-based Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in treating sexual addiction, substance abuse, and other addictions. I work out of offices in Mission Valley, Carlsbad, and San Marcos.
No matter how awful your situation feels right now, it can get better. Is your marriage on the brink of divorce as destructive behavior escalates and consumes your life? Is your teen experimenting with drugs, causing his grades to slip and your family interactions to go from bad to worse?
It may feel hopeless, but dozens of my clients have been in a similar position, and today they are living joyful lives free from addiction. I’m here to guide you there with great care and compassion.
My Advanced Training in Addiction Therapy with an Emphasis on Sex Addiction
My specialty—sex addiction and substance abuse—is pretty unusual, but it’s one that I’m deeply passionate about. As a Christian therapist, I believe healing from addiction is possible. My role is to partner with God to lead my clients toward freedom from bondage and restored relationships.
My advanced training includes coursework with Dr. Patrick Carnes at the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). I'm a Certified Multiple Addictions Therapist (CMAT), with an emphasis in treating alcohol and substance use, and I'm a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT).
My Background as a Social Worker and Therapist in San Diego County
I earned a BA in Psychology at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California and an MS in Marital and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary's School of Psychology.
I began my career in 2005 working with high-risk teens at a foster care agency in San Diego. In 2008, I joined RCA Counseling and began to focus specifically on addictions. In January 2019, I began my own group practice, Integrity Counseling Group. I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
A Little More about Me Plus How to Get In Touch
In my free time, I enjoy mountain biking, kayaking, photography, and traveling. I live in beautiful North San Diego County.
